Electronic Workplace Readiness Home Page INDEX
|
Web Sites are located by their web addresses (Universal Resource Locators {URLs} ). Just as every house has an exact address, so does every web site. The URL specifies exactly where on the Internet the Web Server and the Web Site are located. Most sites on the World Wide Web (WWW) function on a client/server model. The Web Client (your computer/browser) makes requests and the Web Server (a computer running specialized server software) fulfills them or asks further questions to clarify the data to be retrieved. The data requested and delivered can be text, graphics, sound, video, or programs. |
